So I put this up on my blog today with great disappointment...see I LOVE Diet Pepsi...I have drank WAY too much of it over the years....When I entered my 30's I began to notice a lot of wacky health issues and when I would stop drinking Diet Pepsi...they would go away. So - last week I gave it up for good. Now I know that Diet is worse for you than regular soda so if I feel the need to indulge I may have a Coke every now and again but according to this article, both regular and diet are not great for you...it scared me straight...so I offer it to you. I know that it helped me to feel better - so maybe it could do the same for you.
I read a book recently that called pop "liquid satan" - thought that was a little harsh...but I see their point!
Okay Mandy, inspired by your blog post I've decided to go off of Diet Colas for at least two weeks to see if I can feel a difference. This is really going to be difficult for me because it has been my drink of choice for so many years now that I've lost count.
ReplyDeleteI will endeavor to report back here in two weeks.
Man! I was even more bummed to find out about the carbonation upping my chances for osteoporosis! I sometimes feel quite superior when I opt for Izze Sparkling Fruit juices over soda but now I realize I shouldn't even do that! And in truth, it's the fizzy part I crave more than the flavor... Oh, well now I know. As the Bible says, My people perish for lack of knowledge....
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you stopped drinking soda! And I'm glad an article like this is going mainstream!!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you though, I actually drink a naturally (lightly) carbonated and fermented drink called water kefir:

It's easy to make at home and cheap too! Plus it's a probiotic (like yogurt is) which is so important to keep away the nasty winter bugs.
If you'd like, I'm actually going to be in Holland on Friday and I drop some off for you to try. :-) Just e-mail me at donielle(@)naturallyknockedup.com or twitter me at www.twitter.com\donielle
I need to give up my pop cravings! I have noticed in the past when I stopped, my health was better. I can always tell when I have increased my intake on this "stuff"... I start having pain in my teeth.
ReplyDeleteSorry i have to keep my diet pepsi..but i will think of you when i taste it. Matter of fact, im going to have one in the next 5 min. my 3rd can for the day haha.
ReplyDeleteGreat Comments!
